The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) may be done and dusted but that doesn't mean the Las Vegas poker action has to stop. That's because 888poker sent a team of pros and ambassadors to "Sin City" to play in the $10,000 Main Event, and a camera crew to follow their progress in poker's most prestigious event.
The 888poker docuseries is divided into five parts, with new episodes published on YouTube every Saturday for the next few weeks. Part 1 recently landed on the internet superhighway, and this is what happened.
Episode 1: They Came to Vegas With a Dream starts with YouTube sensation Jack "JaackMaate" Dean loading up his car and setting off on the near three-hour drive from his home city of Norwich to Heathrow Airport in London.
We also get to see the final preparations of Team 888poker's Vivian Saliba, Lucia Navarro, Aaron Barone, and Nick Eastwood, while Dean meets up at the airport with friend and Happy Hour Podcasthost Stevie White, who bizarrely doesn't know what hole cards are despite heading to the WSOP to play in the Main Event!
Thankfully, viewers are spared the 11-hour flight, and the video coverage resumes with brief interviews and vlogs of the five Team 888poker members once they land on terra firma.
Although Eastwood, Dean, and White landed in Las Vegas a day before the WSOP Main Event, some of the other 888poker players arrived earlier.
Barone headed to Sin City a week before he planned to hit the tables so he could enjoy a vacation with his fiancée and parents, while Navarro immediately hit the tables to warm up for the Main Event.
One day before the Main Event shuffled up and deal, Navarro bought into the $1,700 No-Limit Hold'em Moneymaker Main Event at MGM Grand. Several hours later, the popular Spaniard found herself at the final table, where she ultimately fell in fifth place for a career-best $91,855; a great start to the Vegas trip!
Saliba took a less traditional route in her Main Event preparations, opting to cook some meals so as not to have to rely on Vegas' fast-food establishments. Saliba was quite philosophical in her approach to playing in poker's most famous tournament, stating she'd do everything in her power to win but was aware she couldn't control the cards and that any of the entrants had the ability to become world champion.
